INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S THEATRE & DANCE TOUR:Children aged from two to ten will be able to get really involved in a first of its kind theatre and dance festival to be held across the East Midlands this summer as part of the Cultural Olympiad. More than 45 events will be taking place at venues in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire during May and June.  Each performance promises a truly magical theatre experience - whether it’s a first visit for a two-year-old to see the gently beautiful and funny White by Catherine Wheels, or a veteran attendee of eight coming to see Bunk Puppet’s extraordinary world of crazy swamp creature shadow puppets! Tickets are available from the box offices of individual venues. The following performances are at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham
2 Jun: Aracaladanza (Spain) presents Nubes (Clouds) Suitable for ages 4+ and families
3, 4 Jun: Bunk Puppets (Canada) and Scamp Theatre presents Swamp Juice Suitable for 6+ and families
7 Jun: Wheee! Festival. Catherine Wheels Theatre Company (Scotland) presents White Suitable for 2-4 year olds and families
10 Jun: Wheee! Festival. Crying Out Loud presents Kindur (the adventurous life of Icelandic sheep) by TPO Company, Italy Suitable for 5-8 year olds and their families.

Jun 1-4 Festival All The Gate to Southwell Folk Festival Southwell, Nottinghamshire NG25 0PT. Roots and Folk Music, three stages, concerts, ceilidhs, dance displays, children’s events, workshops. Real ale & cider festival, food and craft stalls on the festival site. Camping in adjacent field. Events around town including sessions in local pubs. Free parking for day visitors.

Wild Kids at the Hemlock Happening in Bramcote Park.  Join the team from Attenborough Nature Reserve at the Hemlock Happening in Bramcote Park for a mini beast hunt and some craft activities.  After seeing us and the other exhibitors on the field why not stay and enjoy some live performances of dance and music in the evening.  For more details about this event go to: http://www.hemlockhappening.org Drop in between 1pm to 5pm. Jun 4 Jubilee All Diamond Jubilee Beacon Spectacular 7.45pm to 11pm National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont. Come to the highlight of Nottinghamshire’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  This unique free event will include entertainment, a spectacular fireworks display and lighting of the Beacon. Limited parking is available, £5 charge. This fantastic event is the perfect way to celebrate with the whole family and have an unforgettable Bank Holiday evening. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, including:
  • Powerboat and hovercraft demonstration on the lake
  • Live music – Carmen Ghia and the Hot Rods1 take the main stage with further music from the Red Hot swing and jazz band
  • Children’s rides
  • Bandstand – brass band performs as visitors relax on deck chairs
  • 1950s themed promenade with entertainment and stalls
  • Face painting
  • Craft fair
  • Birds of Prey rescue centre display
  • Performance artists
  • Food and drink.
  • The specially commissioned 12 minute fireworks display will provide a beautiful spectacle over the lake and culminate in the lighting of the Beacon on a jetty.

    Carlton Play Day - Queens Diamond Jubilee Theme.  Richard Herrod Playing Fields, Foxhill Road, Carlton, Nottingham 1.00pm – 4.00pm. Organised and funded by the Gedling Play Forum and Gedling Borough Council.  A chance for the under 14s to express themselves through play in a safe and secure environment. Childrens table top arts and crafts, have a go sports sessions, creative and imaginative play for all ages and abilities.  Play clothes essential! Parents must be in attendance at all times.     Jun 6 & 7 Activity Families Children’s Drop-in Diamond Jubilee Arts & Craft Workshops  at D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre, Mansfield Road, Eastwood, Nottingham NG16 3DZ. 10.30am-1.00pm and 1.30pm-4.00pm. Why not bring the children along to have-a-go at making a crown fit for a Queen to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. There will be many other exciting crafts for you to take home and the opportunity to follow our Royal themed trail around the exhibition area with the chance to win a small prize.     Jun 24 Activity Families Midsummer’s Day Event with Drop-in Arts and Crafts 11.00am-3.00pm at D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre. Enter our special, enchanted world of Fairies and Elves as we celebrate Midsummer's Day. Visit our special Midsummer Fairy as she reads her magical stories and enjoy   Fairy and Elf themed arts and crafts for all ages to enjoy. If you can spot the hidden elves and fairies along our magical outdoor and indoor trail there’s a chance to win a small prize. A fancy dress competition for the best dressed fairy, elf or goblin will take place at 1.30pm.     London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay Follow the flame on the Nottingham leg of a 70 day nationwide tour, stopping off in Radcliffe on Trent at 4.40pm and Radcliffe Road, West Bridgford at 5.45pm

    Jun 30 Fair All You are all invited to the "Big Hearted Bake" 12-4pm at Greenwood Community Centre, Banks Road, Toton, Nottingham. Along with refreshments and a delicious array of cakes and stalls, we are holding a fabulous raffle (prizes have already been donated kindly by Twin Lakes, Station Restaurant and Chilwell golf store.) 2nd Toton Cubs/Scouts have kindly offered their time to help out with childrens activities on the day. We aim to make the day a fun filled family and community event to be thoroughly enjoyed by all! The event is being held in memory of our beautiful daughter Cerys. Cerys was born with a complex heart condition and despite major surgery at 5 days old she sadly died at 12 days old in February 2012. "Little Hearts Matter" (www.lhm.org.uk) support families and those affected when a child is born with half a working heart, like Cerys and all proceeds will be going to this fabulous charity. We look forward to seeing you there!!!
