21st November Making It opening on Strike Day (30th November)
Local children need not miss out on a day’s education next week [30 November].  Mansfield’s Making it! discovery centre is opening its interactive galleries to families across the region FREE OF CHARGE.

Public Sector workers will be on strike during this day, resulting in schools  throughout the country closing for the day.  To help ease the burden on families looking for somewhere to take the children, families wishing to take up this fabulous “one off” offer need to apply for tickets on a first come first served basis.  Send an email to education@makingit.org.uk as soon as possible, stating how many adults and children you require tickets for together with a contact name and telephone number.  Applicants should also state whether they wish to visit in the morning (0900-12noon) or afternoon (1215-1500).

All successful applicants will received a “timed slot” which is not transferable on the day.  Admission to the galleries does not include access to “Parts Collection”.  Visitors wishing to access this area to make a fully working model of their choice, will need to purchase a ticket at a reduced price of £2 per kit.

Making it! will also be offering a discount on children’s meal deals during the day which should be purchased at the point of entry.

Following feedback, I've amended the website so that within the directory, clicking on a different area will take you to the equivalent page within that area rather than to the A-Z index. For example, if you are looking at the Yoga page for South Notts and you click on Derby, you will be taken to the Yoga page for Derby. Your feedback is always appreciated.

8th May 2009 Twycross Zoo Competition. 90 entries. The winner of a Family Pass to Twycross Zoo was Mrs S. Jones of Chilwell. The correct answer was the Bonobo. The draw was made today at Portland Leisure Centre.

13th August 08. Only three entries to the competition in the Summer issue (come on you lot - I usually get over 100 entries to competitions!) so they all win a session at the Ice Centre's Toddler session.
Erika Raggio of Chilwell, Emma Smith from Clifton and Samantha Roberts from Netherfield.

July 08. Oh dear! I've forgotten to change the date on the cover of the latest issue. The Summer issue (No. 23) which covers July to October 2008 still says "Issue 22 March - June 2008" on the front cover. You can tell the diffference though. The March issue had a red cover, the July issue has a black cover with yellow writing

Apr 08. The winner of a group Parent & Toddler session at the Ice Centre, complete with pickup by the new Minbus service is Melanie Brown of Bulwell.
